How does the app teach characters?
Each character is broken into its component radicals. The app generates a vivid short story that weaves those radicals together using your interests — so a character becomes a memorable scene, not a list of strokes to memorize.
What is spaced repetition?
Spaced repetition schedules each card for review just before you're likely to forget it. The more consistently you rate a card correctly, the longer the interval grows — so familiar characters appear rarely, and tricky ones more often. We use the FSRS v5 algorithm, one of the most accurate available.
Does the app require an internet connection?
Reviewing cards and navigating the app works fully offline. An internet connection is needed when generating new personalized mnemonic stories for characters you haven't seen before.
What's included in the free version?
The free version gives you access to all characters with mnemonic stories personalized to your three broad interest areas. Upgrading to Scholar unlocks richer personalization: deeper sub-interests, a freeform learner profile, and more detailed story hooks.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID. Go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone to view, change, or cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
How do I reset my progress?
All data is stored locally on your device. To reset progress, delete the app and reinstall it. Note that this is permanent — there is no cloud backup in the current version.
What characters are included?
The curriculum covers HSK 1–3 vocabulary, interleaved with foundational radical building blocks so you learn the pieces before the compounds. More levels are planned in future updates.
