Overview
Stone Quill builds tools that are personal by nature — we handle your data with the same care we'd want applied to our own. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we protect it.
What We Collect
Our app collects the following data, stored locally on your device:
- A first name you provide during onboarding (never transmitted to our servers)
- Your selected learning interests and preferences
- Study progress, review history, and spaced repetition state
- Custom mnemonics and notes you create
When you use AI-powered personalization features, a prompt is sent to our cloud function to generate your mnemonic story. This prompt includes your interests and character data — never your name or personal identifiers.
What We Don't Collect
- No account or email address is required in the current version
- No advertising identifiers or tracking
- No analytics SDKs or third-party data brokers
- No location data
Third-Party Services
We use Google Firebase Cloud Functions solely as a secure key vault to call the Gemini AI API on your behalf. We do not use Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, or any other Firebase product. Generated stories may be temporarily processed by Google's AI infrastructure under their standard privacy terms.
Data Storage
All personal data lives on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Clearing the app or deleting it removes all data. There is no cloud backup or sync in the current version.
Children's Privacy
Our app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected in an updated effective date above. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of any updates.
